Joseph R. Ramrath Appointed to Allmerica's Board of Directors

WORCESTER, Mass., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allmerica Financial Corporation (NYSE: AFC) today announced that Joseph R. Ramrath has been appointed to the company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. Ramrath is a managing director of Colchester Partners LLC, an investment banking and strategic advisory firm located in Boston.

Ramrath has extensive experience in financings and transactions. Prior to joining Colchester Partners LLC, he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of United Asset Management, a division of Old Mutual. While at United Asset Management, he served as a member of the management committee and a leader of the acquisitions and subsidiary operations team.

Prior to joining United Asset Management, Ramrath was a partner and member of the management committee of Hill & Barlow, a Boston law firm. Ramrath spent five years as a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. before attending law school, and will join the Audit Committee of Allmerica's Board.

Ramrath is also a director of New England Business Service, Inc., a leading business-to-business direct marketing company with 2.6 million active small business customers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and France.

Ramrath holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Babson College, and a juris doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
