WORCESTER, Mass., May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allmerica Financial
Corporation (NYSE: AFC) announced that Nancy L. Leaming was elected to the
company's board of directors at its annual meeting of shareholders, held
today. Leaming is president and chief executive officer of Tufts Health Plan,
a provider of healthcare insurance headquartered in Waltham, Mass.
"Nancy's experience, knowledge and proven record as a business leader make

Prior to being appointed president and chief executive officer of Tufts
Health Plan in 2003, Leaming served as the plan's president and chief
operating officer for five years. Before that time, she served as the plan's
chief operating officer, from 1995 to 1998, and as chief operating
officer/chief financial officer, from 1986 to 1995.
Leaming has held a variety of management positions in the managed care and
banking industries, including chief financial officer of the Matthew Thornton
Health Plan. She currently serves as a director of Hologic, Inc., a publicly-
traded developer, manufacturer and supplier of medical imaging systems.
Leaming also serves on the boards of the Greater Boston Chamber of
Commerce, the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, the Massachusetts Association
of Health Plans, the New England Healthcare Institute, America's Health
Insurance Plans and the American Red Cross, and is the chairperson of the
Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. In addition, she is actively involved in
the community, sitting on the advisory board of the Big Sisters Association of
Greater Boston, and is the recipient of several community awards.
Leaming holds a bachelor of science degree in economics and business
administration from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Penn.
