The Hanover Insurance Group Foundation Awards Scholarships to 24 Students Honoring Academic Achievement and Commitment to Community Service

WORCESTER, Mass., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hanover Insurance Group Foundation, Inc. today announced that it has awarded 24 scholarships to local public high school students and children of employees of The Hanover Insurance Group. The scholarship awards totaled more than $45,000 nationwide.

Worcester county scholarship recipients include the following:

-- Zachary W. Allen, Burncoat Senior High School. Zachary will attend the Massachusetts College of Art and major in fashion design.

-- Stephanie L. Carey, Grafton Memorial Senior High. Stephanie will attend Clemson University and major in architecture.

-- Kyle D. Cross, Auburn Senior High School. Kyle will attend Nichols College and major in sports management.

-- Neil W. Demers, West Boylston Junior-Senior High School. Neil will attend Tufts University and major in psychology.

-- Sayuri Kuratomi, Claremont Academy. Sayuri will attend College of the Holy Cross and major in biology and pre-dental.

-- Alisha E. LeBlanc, David Prouty High School. Alisha will attend Northeastern University with an undeclared major.

-- David H. LeBoeuf, South High Community School. David will attend Clark University and major in political science.

-- Catherine A., Macek, Doherty Memorial High School. Catherine will attend Boston College and major in chemistry.

-- Laura J. Malkiewich, Doherty Memorial High School. Laura will attend Stanford University and major in chemistry.

-- Lisa Z. Mao, South High Community School. Lisa attend Boston College and major in business.

-- Maura L. Nickerson, Tahanto Regional High School. Maura will attend Suffolk University and major in marketing.

-- Casey N. Robertson, Wachusett Regional High School. Casey will attend Northeastern University and major in business.

-- Mary A. Rocheleau, Shrewsbury Senior High School. Mary will attend McGill University and major in cognitive science.

-- Nicole M. Sauber, Millbury Junior-Senior High. Nicole will attend Bridgewater State College and major in special education.

-- Tri M. Trang, University Park Campus School. Tri will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and major in pre-medicine.

-- Kieu D. Vuong, North High School. Kieu will attend Bryant University and major in international business.

Worcester scholarship recipients from The Hanover Insurance Group Employee Program, include the following:

-- Michael K. Daw (employee Regina Daw), a college freshman attending Wake Forest University, majoring in business.

-- Kelly P. Earle, (employee Pamela Earle), a college freshman, Duke University with an undeclared major.

-- Nathanial W. Hixon (employee Donna Hixon), a high school senior at Nipmuc Regional High School will attend Boston University and major in biomedical engineering.

-- Gregory B. Johnson (employee James Johnson), a high school senior at Lexington High School will attend Boston College and major in engineering.

-- Edward T. Kalinowski (employee Joseph Kalinowski), a college freshman at University of Massachusetts, majoring in computer science.

-- Janelle L. Peiczarka (employee Linda Peiczarka), high school senior at Marianapolis Preparatory School will attend Northeastern University and major in political science.

-- Elizabeth J. Tripp (employee Ann Tripp), a college freshman at Mount Holyoke College, majoring in education and psychology.

The company also granted a scholarship to Ivanna Mercedes of Burncoat Senior High School. Ivanna will attend Assumption College. Ivanna received The Hanover's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) scholarship, which is judged separately through the AVID program.

The scholarship program was managed by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, the nation's leading scholarship program administrator.
