The Hanover Insurance Group Elects Harriett Tee Taggart to Board of Directors

WORCESTER, Mass., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. (NYSE: THG), announced that Harriett Tee Taggart was elected to the company's board of directors at its February board meeting, held earlier today. Taggart is principal of Taggart Associates in Cambridge, Mass., which provides strategic research and administrative support for her work on corporate and non-profit boards.

Taggart is an internationally recognized and respected investment professional, who currently serves as a director on the boards of two other New York Stock Exchange-listed corporations, Albemarle Corporation and The Lubrizol Corporation, both of which are global developers, manufacturers and marketers of engineered specialty chemicals.

Taggart formed Taggart Associates in 2007, after more than 20 years at Wellington Management, Boston, Mass. At Wellington, she served as partner, senior vice president and global investment manager from 1992-2006, and was responsible for global investments in publicly-traded stocks of companies in specialty and basic chemicals, environmental services, and innovative materials industries. Prior to joining Wellington in 1983, Taggart held a number of management positions in the public sector, working in legislative, regulatory, state and regional levels of government.

She currently serves on a number of non-profit and professional organizations, including Reed College, where she is a trustee and member of the Executive and Endowment Management committees. She also serves on the Board of Overseers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard-affiliated hospital, where she serves on the Research Strategy Committee; and on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of Planned Parenthood in Massachusetts.

Taggart holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master's degree from the Kennedy School at Harvard University, and graduated magna cum laude from Smith College.
